Short version are better in none combatant role. The sun and 50+C does take it's toll on the rubber soles however a little gun oil works wonders to keep the rubber soft.

They seem to run true to size and are surprisingly light and comfortable. The side zipper is a great convenience for getting them on or off easily. I'll have to post an update once I've got a few months of wear on them.
